The minimum is eight inches, though donations of 12 inches and longer help exponentially more. Curly hair must be at least eight inches when stretched out.
Yes. Children With Hair Loss has guidelines for donating, but here are the most common questions we’ve been getting:
Any hair in good condition will be accepted
Dyed/colored hair is accepted, though non-chemically treated hair is preferred
Gray hair is accepted
All hair types are accepted (curly, straight, oily, dry, thin, etc.)
Locs (dreadlocks) are accepted
Your hair will have to be at least eight inches to donate. If it’s not long enough by that time, you can still use this as a reason to grow it out, and we’d still love to have you join us at the event.
We will donate the hair we collect at The Great Cut to our charity partner, Children With Hair Loss.
Absolutely yes.
We do hope you'll consider joining us, and we've tried to make it possible for anyone to attend. You can even start a GoFundMe to raise money for your travel expenses.
However, if you just can't join us in San Diego you can mail in your hair and participate in The Great Cut.
This is a family-friendly event, everyone is welcome.
There is a nominal registration fee, and you’ll need to cover your own lodging, meals & transportation.
Your registration fee includes all day admission to The Great Cut with in & out privileges. Visit our registration area to see everything that’s included with each registration package.
We have provided step-by-step instructions and assets for creating a crowdfunding campaign with GoFundMe, where friends and family can sponsor your participation. Visit our crowdfunding page for more details. (standby, coming soon)
By thinking about the child who will get your hair. And by doing it together.
You are welcome to bring guests, we have a guest registration available.
For event and travel questions please visit our event page.
Which brings us to the final question: will you join us for The Great Cut?
